Peak Oil and Global Warming - Who Gets Dicked?

Current mood: amused

Peak Oil is nearly here and no one seems to be too worried about it. Maybe because no one knows what will happen after that - or maybe they don't know what it is cuz the news doesn't make a big deal about it. Or, more likely, everyone figures scientists will figure out something else for us to use instead. We'll all drive electric cars, or cars run on plant oil or solar cells.

As for Global Warming --- this is how real it is --- The US Dept of Energy itself says "meeting this challenge (Meeting the world's growing energy needs while responding to global warming during the 21st Century) will demand 'transformational breakthroughs in basic science,' meaning revolutionary discoveries rather than common step-by-step scientific advances."

"Revolutionary discoveries".

You know what that means in regular people language?

With the technology and knowledge we have right now, we're all pretty much fucked.

They have absolutely no idea how we're gonna handle it, unless a fuckin' miracle happens.

This is the US Dept of Energy saying this!

In their own fucked up corporate doublespeak language that means absolutely nothing to the common man, they're saying "We're all fucked unless we make a world-changing discovery".

Welcome to Peak Oil and Global Warming,

But most Americans say "We'll figure out something. We always do."

Well that's just what the US DOE just said isn't gonna happen.

There are horror stories, like we're gonna run out of oil and the world will be turned into a Mad Max movie. Not likely, though.

Then there are folks who say there's tons of oil, we just need to drill it -- which is true. Rumor has it there's tons of oil in the Arctic Ocean and off the southern tip of South America (which was what the big to-do was about way back when Britain was fighting for ownership of the Falkan Islands ---- bet you were wondering why they were in such a tizzie about some stupid barren islands, huh?

Well, there is tons of oil and we are going to get it out of the ground eventually. With the help of the wonderful Global Warming, the Arctic Ice Sheet could be melted year-round within 4 years they're saying now, so it'll be a little cheaper to extract, once we knock the Soviet Union's flag out of the way -- it was dropped there by an ice breaker of theirs while they were mapping the Arctic Ocean floor - obviously with the same mission in mind -- but I'm sure they'll let us drill there without launching any nuclear missiles at us. They're our friends.

The problem isn't getting the oil. It's getting enough -- and getting it fast enough to keep up with demand. With the New World Order ushering in the growth of a Global Community, nations like China and other growing industrial nations are adding to the consumer's list of oil-dependency, helping to boost demand that's still growing in our own country. Yeah, we're using more, China's using more, all those little factories with little Phillipino children making Nikeys for 80 cents a week are using more --- we're all using more, every day.

As we keep looking and drilling, demand rises faster than drilling can keep up with.

That's what Peak Oil means. Peak Oil is when the rate at which we produce oil starts to decline "in comparison to the rate at which we consume it". In other words, we start consuming more than we can produce.

That's expected to hit us in the Twenty-teens. How old will you be? It's 2008.

Sure, with the record profits being enjoyed by the oil companies right now, they can invest in more drilling and more refineries. They better! Their current rigs are 25 years old, which is usually when they get scrapped. But all that oil is still in less accessible areas -- that's why they're still untapped! That takes way more money to drill than where we're drilling now, and it could take a good 5-10 years to get to the point where oil actually starts to pop up out of the ground and create a profit - once we start building new rigs, that is. And if the price of oil isn't high enough to make a profit drilling those hard-to-reach places, they'll just wait til it is.

So, in the mean time, the only solution is to slow consumption, and to create a profit-incentive that will light a fire under the asses of oil companies to drill.

And since I'm not cutting my driving down or turning my heat down in my house, and I suspect neither are you, there's only one way to really control consumption ---

Jack up the price.

This is where we - the average schmuck, will get fucked. Not in running out of oil, gas, propane and fuel oil, running around like Mad Max stealing fuel from each other --- but in paying a whole lot more for it than we ever paid before.

And not just at the pumps!

Consider that soon gas costs twice what it did. Here's a list of costs that also go up in relation to that ---

- Driving to work and back - Gotta do that, or you don't make money. That's obvious and unavoidable unless you want to risk riding with a bunch of assholes in a carpool and listening to their music and bullshit, on top of having to leave early for work to pick everyone up. So you're Dicked there.

- Heating your house - gonna cost twice what it cost before. My fuel oil tank costs $680 to fill. Now it'll cost $1360 each fill-up. How about yours? Dicked again.

- Electricity - takes fuel to make electricity - that price will double, too. Dicked again.

- Driving to the store to get food and clothing - gotta do that. Can't pay UPS's new jacked-up prices to make up for their fuel bill. Gonna cost you money to go spend money. Dicked again!

OK, you make a few sacrifices, cut your driving down by only shopping twice a week, carpool, wear sweaters in winter, buy those little screw-shaped light bulbs. And how appropriately shaped -- who says corporations don't have a sense of humor. Those screw shaped light bulbs are filled with a mercury gas, (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_fluorescent_lamp - end of the second paragraph) which is one of the most potent poisons around, so don't drop it. But I'm sure none of that gas leaks as the electricity burns it while it's flowing through the tube.

----------------------------------------------

Now consider that corporations that have to pay that extra cost will be dicking YOU for the extra cost, or else they don't make the same profit - they take a pay cut -- and no corporate exec is gonna take a pay cut.

So YOU get dicked for the extra cost.

This is a list of the extra costs YOU will get dicked for - ie - YOU will pay THEIR bills if you want THEM to produce food, clothing, and other basic necessities for YOU.

- Growing the food - gotta feed the tractors that plow the fields and plant the seeds and fertilize the land and spread the pesticides and harvest the food. YOU get dicked for that.

- Processing the food - gotta pay to heat the buildings and pay the electric bill to run the machines, Dicked again!

- Electric is up, too, cuz you need fuel to make electricity, so you get dicked not only for YOUR electricity bill, but the corporations' electricity bills to run the plants.

- Packaging the food - gotta pay to heat the buildings and pay the electric bill to run the machines, Dicked yet again!

- Shipping the food - You gotta pay for the gas to ship the food -- AND the taxes the trucker has to pay on that gas (both at the pump and however else they pay taxes) for highway usage, which will cost more because the machines they use to keep up the roads will cost more. Corporations will dick YOU with that bill, too.

- Grocery and Department Stores need heat and electricity, too. Ass gettin' sore yet?.

OK, now food, clothing, basic necessities, driving to work, using electricity and heating your home have doubled.

How's your budget looking now?

-----------------------------------------------

Well I ain't done.

Cuz now, mom and pop stores, specialty stores, gift shops, all these little places that eek out a living as it is, get dicked for all their overhead, too. They've been competing with Walmart for a decade and now they gotta double their overhead?

How long do you think they'll stay in business when they start dicking you for their overhead?

In fact, now that people can't afford luxuries because they're all getting dicked by Peak Oil, too, people who sell those luxuries will be out of business too.

Unemployment on top of jacked-up cost of living.

So you ask -- Why not convert to all these alternate energy sources then if fuel is gonna cost so much?

Because those alternate energy sources are gonna cost a bundle, too --- a bundle to invest in initially and a bundle to produce millions of to accommodate the millions of households now converting.

And guess what? -- THEY need fuel to produce those alternate energy sources!

You use almost as much vegetable-oil fuel in the farm equipment that you drive to farm the corn to turn it into vegetable-oil fuel - as you produce the plants to begin with! Also, they've discovered that by using up all the vegetable matter, including the stalks, to produce the vegetable oil fuel, you deplete the soil of all of it's nutrients, because you're no longer turning under the stalks to create the soil you need to grow it in the first place. You're also using up valuable land that needs to be used to grow food in an increasing population.

Even if they get it to work, you have to replace every car in the world with a car that will run on it, or convert every car in the world to run on it. Even if we can make a car to ru on electricity, you have to replace every car in the world with electric cars. That all takes tons of energy to manufacture.

You need fuel to run machines to create solar panels and wind turbines. You need energy to drill to get to geothermal sources. You need energy to run electric plants to power electric cars.

That's all gonna cost more now because
A) they're all gonna need fuel to create, and
B) you and I aren't going to
buy that stuff til gas DOES cost more!

So alternate energy isn't likely to help a lot anyway in the short-term -- though in the long run, say 40 years or so after you spend a bundle for the alternate energy source, the initial investments should start to pay off. It's that long wait for payback that keeps most Americans from going Solar or Wind power in the first place. And you'll still need to cut back considerably on use because non of those sources procude as much as we use every day now.

And we haven't even touched on Global Warming yet.

See, climate changes, That's what it does. That's what it's always done. But it changes over thousands of years, giving nature and plants time to condition the soil to adapt to the change in climate. Ecosystems die off gradually and gradually, other ecosystems evolve to replace it.

But because everything is changing so fast -- faster than originally predicted if the Arctic Ocean, that wasn't supposed to become ice free for 80 years, will become ice-free in 4 -- nature doesn't have time to turn Canadian forests into pasture land or farmable land.

They get turned, instead, into termite fields and forest fires as they dry up and die.

Ever try to plow a field full of tree stumps with a horse drawn plow? Cuz there ain't gonna be a lot of fuel to run farm equipment, and even if there is, it doesn't do treestumps very well. But that's what you'll have to do because America's Breadbasket will be a Dustbowl, just like the 30's, only now it'll be in the 2030's. How old will you be?

So now, add all of the above reasons why you get dicked with the high cost of food, then add to the fact that there is way less farmable land, and you get a food shortage. So now we're paying even more for food - assuming you can even get it.

And the only way a corporation is going to produce any food at all is if they make a profit. And trust me -- they will charge "what the market will bear". That means they will charge whatever you're willing to pay to keep from starving to death.

But the people with the big money won't have anything to worry about. They'll be able to afford everything no matter how high the price. They don't even need to live in America if they don't want to, so they don't give a shit if the whole place folds under it's own laziness and hedonism or not. They can move to Dubai and live in Pyramid City.

So in the end -- YOU get dicked.

or to put it more accurately --

YOU get dicked in the END!

Population Control and Global Warming

Everyone talks about global warming and how it's gonna get hotter, but no one breaks down exactly what the effects will be if it happens.

So I got National Geographic's "Six Degrees Could Change the World" and took a few notes, since most folks are too lazy to do the research.

These are my notes:

Usually warming occurs over thousands of years, not decades.
Adaptation and evolution won't be able to keep up.

We've risen .8 degrees Celsius

1 degree Celsius
Another Dust Bowl in the Western US like the thirties - only bigger!
Sand dunes blow across the US plains
England will enjoy their best weather ever - able to produce wine and olives

2 degrees Celsius
insect migration to the north -
some islands go under water
Coral reefs die, killing off 100s of 1000s of species.
Ocean algae that supports life and controls CO2 dies
altering the way the ocean works completely
Coastal cities flood as Greenland melts
Nat'l Geographic says when the Arctic Ocean melts,
that's when warming can become a 'runaway train'.

3 degrees Celsius
will push warming over the edge
Arctic Ocean thaws all year.
Amazon Jungle turns to desert - (tributaries are already drying up)
We have El Nino every year
Europe becomes like the Middle east
Summer has Killer Heat Waves. - every summer
Paris 2003 30,000 died of heat strokes, which were unheard of there.
Many deciduous tees start retaining O2 and releasing CO2
Dying tees from desertification releases enough CO2 to raise warming to 4 degrees
Most violent storms ever - Katrina will be normal category 6 hurricanes
Basic life-support systems start to break down.

4 degrees Celsius
- hard to predict.
Rising Oceans displace a billion people from coasts and deltas
Glacial melting completes and cuts off freshwater flows to billions
Canada becomes agricultural
River Ganges - source of all freshwater in India - dries up to a creek
Manhattan floods
Europe develops desert as Alps melt and dry up

5 degrees Celsius
100s of millions of 'climate refugees' seek habitable land.
civilization as a whole breaks down.
Only the rich remain comfortable, moving to better climates.
Natural disasters are common
People fight for dwindling resources

6 degrees Celsius
Mass extinction
Huge uninhabitable areas of land span the entire globe
Doomsday scenario
Cannibalism sounds like a good option

So I'm thinking the whole time I'm watching this movie, "What's the best method of population control?"

and I came up with --- "SWEET!"

There's obviously way too many people in the world so we need to bump a few off.
What do you do?
Nuclear bombs will fuck up the planet for you, so you don't want to do that.
Super germs might kill you too, so that's out.

Hey, YOU got an idea!

Be an oil tycoon, pay off the media and government (and bring them in on the plan and include them as sole survivors) so they'll downplay the effects of global warming by making the "corporate-funded" scientists create their computer models based on the assumption we'll have a 60% reduction in fossil fuels in the next decade or so (see my article in My Other Blog - Friday, August 8, 2008 Guess it's the end of the world) so it won't look so bad and everyone will keep burning oil.

That way, all the shit (listed above) that goes down above won't be your fault --- it'll be everyone's fault.
In the mean time, jack up the price of oil so you can take all that money and build a secret underground, solar/wind-powered village, sealed off from everyone else, in like Antarctica or somewhere, wait til "all of the above" happens, then when everyone eats each other, re-terraform the planet using domed greenhouse 'cities' and re-populate them with your own DNA and that of all the scientists and folks that helped you.

Fuck the rest of humanity -- too many of those motherfuckers out there anyway - takin' shit away from you!

Sounds like a plan!

Virus

Just got my ass kicked by a brilliant virus (my own fault -- bad download)
First, AVG went off, then my desktop screen disappeared.
AVG said it got the virus but my EI browser ( I usually use Firefox)
kept popping up to go to a website to download the anti-virus
(yeah right) but I had immediately pulled the cable to the router so
it wouldn't infect my other computer or connect to the internet.

It was 3am and I was sleepy so I ran AVG on both computers and went to bed.

Got up the next morning, IE6 was all over m screen trying to get online.
Sucker was still in there!
So I try to look for the virus in my computer and found I couldn't see
my drives or programs. Nothing in my windows explorer! I try the
Start button and no programs, no My Computer. I try Alt>Ctrl>Del
and a message pops up saying my Task Manager was disabled by
the Administrator, so I can't track the culprit that way.

In the mean time IE6 keeps popping up trying to connect.

I tried running AVG in Safe Mode but got the same problems.

Finally decided to cut my losses and reformat my hard-drive,
but my DVD player in that computer quit working, so I had to
pull my DVD burner from my other computer and install it in
the infected computer. PITA. So now I've got both computers
with their guts exposed and spread all over and found my WinXP
install disc.

But when I tried it, my computer shut down after about 60 seconds.
I couldn't get past the format stage without it shutting down.

This guy thought of everything!

So finally -- after a few tries, I got pretty quick at making my
choices for the reinstall process and finally managed to do a
"quick format" in time to erase the hard-drive and reinstall WinXP.

But then I couldn't find my Motherboard Driver Disk.
Shit !
Spent the rest of the afternoon looking for it and scouring the
internet downloading what I thought was the proper drivers from
the website but none of them worked and I need my video driver
to do my artwork.

I finally gave up and went to sleep around 5 (I take lots of naps -
keeps me productive) and woke up around 7, found the driver CD
in a place I never thought of - almost by accident - installed my
video driver and life is now back to normal.

I'd be pissed but I was so impressed with the thoroughness of this virus I
sorta admire the guy that wrote it. Nice to have a clean computer anyway.

So if anyone knows how I could've avoided reformatting in this situation
feel free to leave a comment :-)

IK

Got up this morning and there was a dead field mouse in my toilet.

(No, you fuckin' sickos there isn't a photo!)

This is what I figure happened.

I got 5 cats.

My cats probably chased it around the house until it got tired, then they cornered it in the bathroom.

Realizing there was no means of escape, it did the only honorable thing it could ---

It hopped up on the toilet seat -- shouted:
"YOU'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE YOU BASTARDS!"
then did a swan dive into the toilet water and drowned itself.

Recognizing it's heroic act, I performed the standard "Goldfish Burial Ritual" worthy of the most colorful Neon Tetra,

and flushed it.

How I know animals can think

How I Know Animals Can Think

People say animals can't think, can't reason, that they act purely on "instinct".

Wrong.

This is how I know.

I'm feeding my 5 cats. I notice one is walking towards the litter box with a desperate look on her face. She hears the catfood hitting the food bowl. She hears the other cats meowing and sees them charging at the food.

She turns towards the litterbox, then back towards the food, her face getting more and more desperate. She has only seconds to make the decision ---

"Do I shit? --- or do I grab my share of the food before these bastards eat it all!"

She turns her head back and forth, quickly weighing the decision.

Finally, she runs to the food bowl as if to say "Fuck it! I'll shit later!" and digs in with the other cats.

That moment of consciously weighing the situation, staving off the "call of nature" to pursue the pleasure of eating, and making a decision that will affect her immediate future proves to me that animals do use some level of reason and forethought in their decision-making process.

A lesson in FOX NEWS psychological manipulation

This takes reading. If you don't have time to read it,
store it for later.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is an analysis of how FOX NEWS manipulates it's audience.

My comments are in this color, the stories I copied and pasted are in white.

First, what brought my attention to this was this story by The Daily News--

FBI was told to blame Anthrax scare on Al Qaeda by White House officials

BY JAMES GORDON MEEK
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/us_world/2008/08/02/2008-08-02_fbi_was_told_to_blame_anthrax_scare_on_a.html
Saturday, August 2nd 2008, 6:32 PM

WASHINGTON - In the immediate aftermath of the 2001 anthrax attacks, White House officials repeatedly pressed FBI Director Robert Mueller to prove it was a second-wave assault by Al Qaeda, but investigators ruled that out, the Daily News has learned.

After the Oct. 5, 2001, death from anthrax exposure of Sun photo editor Robert Stevens, Mueller was "beaten up" during President Bush's morning intelligence briefings for not producing proof the killer spores were the handiwork of terrorist mastermind Osama Bin Laden, according to a former aide.

"They really wanted to blame somebody in the Middle East," the retired senior FBI official told The News.

On October 15, 2001, President Bush said, "There may be some possible link" to Bin Laden, adding, "I wouldn't put it past him." Vice President Cheney also said Bin Laden's henchmen were trained "how to deploy and use these kinds of substances, so you start to piece it all together."

But by then the FBI already knew anthrax spilling out of letters addressed to media outlets and to a U.S. senator was a military strain of the bioweapon. "Very quickly [Fort Detrick, Md., experts] told us this was not something some guy in a cave could come up with," the ex-FBI official said. "They couldn't go from box cutters one week to weapons-grade anthrax the next."jmeek@nydailynews.com

Right after Bruce Ivins "killed himself", this comes out.
I'll bet they offed this guy in prison, and now they're blaming it all on him.
So being the skeptic I am, I had to dig, and the first story I find is FOX NEWS.
i never intended to take this apart until I read FOX NEWS' version.

-----------------------------
Now look at the FOX transcripts and tell me this poor bastard isn't a patsy.
(I copied and pasted this from their website)
They're blaming this guy for the anthrax attack -- after they faked blaming it on
al quaeda originally.

It sounds like a scene from "Enemy of the State".
Note the highlighted words
. Those are what I'll comment on.
-----------------------------

This is a rush transcript from "America's Election HQ," August 1, 2008. This copy may not be in its final form and may be updated. (this is so they can change their story if they screwed it up)

HEATHER NAUERT, HOST: There is more breaking news today: The pieces of the nearly seven-year-old puzzle may be coming together. The 2001 anthrax attacks, the mystery may have been solved after all this time.

Today, we learned that a top Army microbiologist was the same scientist who is developing a vaccine against anthrax -- well, he, apparently killed himself just as prosecutors were getting ready to indict him for the worst bio-terror attack in United States history. The 2005 strike killed five people and sickened more than a dozen others. It crippled the U.S. postal system for weeks and weeks and sent an already-shaken America deeper into fear just after the 9/11 attacks.

Now, this guy's name was Bruce Ivins, he was 62 years old. And we're taking a picture -- a look at a picture of him right now. He once examined anthrax-laced letter that was sent to Senator Patrick Leahy years ago.

But we're going to kick off with a live report from our very own reporter, Catherine Herridge. She is the one who broke the news that scientists at Fort Detrick, were under suspicion in this case, months -- well, actually years ago.

Catherine, this has been a busy day for you. What all unfolded today?

CATHERINE HERRIDGE, FOX NEWS CORRESPONDENT: Well, there are several important developments really, Heather.

First of all, in March of this year, we were the first to report that the FBI had, in fact, narrowed their pool of suspects to four and we were able to confirm that all of them were tied to Fort Detrick, this is the Army's bioweapons research facility in Maryland and among that group was an Army scientist we now know that was Bruce Ivins.

The information about Ivins is very significant because independently, we were able to obtain an e-mail forwarded by Ivins in 2005 and that e-mail claims that the powder in the anthrax letter was virtually identical to powder that was being made at Fort Detrick.

OK First, how was FOX NEWS able to -- "independently" --- obtain this guy's email.
Second --- he was the one pointing to the facility it came from!
THAT'S why they're pinning it on him.
He knows -- or suspects -- it was an inside job. Read this part below ---

Now, today, friends of Bruce Ivins told me that they believe Ivins was an honorable man and that he was one of the first people to draw attention to the Army base in Maryland as a likely source of the powder, also as the likely source of the base, if you will, for the person who sent those letters.

Duh! Now read how this sentence starts "Others would say---".
That's classic FOX NEWS code for "we're making this shit up!"

Others would say that all of Ivins' efforts were really an effort to deflect the suspicion away from him.

Now this part is to make the guy sound like he's guilty, when in fact, he's probably pissed that he's getting railroaded....

There are other developments today. We were able to obtain court documents from the state court in Maryland. These documents suggest (another code for "We're making this shit up") that the last weeks of Bruce Ivins' life were very tumultuous and very tortured.

This next part is because his therapist is probably a government quack keeping him drugged ---

A restraining order was taken out against him by an individual we believe was his therapist. And in those court documents, it says that the therapist believes Ivins had homicidal tendencies, could be violent, and that he was under investigation by the FBI and would be charged with five capital murder offenses at some point this year. (If I knew I were being railroaded, yeah, I could get angry) That's significant, because five Americans were killed in the anthrax attacks in 2001.

I think (You're a news reporter -- you're not supposed to "think", you're supposed to be objective! -- more FOX NEWS code for "We're making this shit up") that the bottom line for people is that everything over the last seven years and now, especially in the last 24 hours, and in the last few months that we've been really honing in on this case, it shows that it was not some foreign extremist who launched the worst bioterror attack on U.S. soil, in fact, it now appears that it was an Army insider.

NAUERT: Yes.

HERRIDGE: An Army insider who was responsible for this attack. (Duh. and Ivins was closing in on it.)

NAUERT: And, Catherine, I think, a lot of folks would agree that (another code for "We're making this shit up") that's the most troubling thing of all. Catherine Herridge, thank you so much for bringing that to us.

HERRIDGE: You're welcome.

NAUERT: So, the question is now -- was Ivins the perpetrator that the feds have been looking for all this time?

With us now is Greg Esslinger. He's a former FBI special agent in counterterrorism.

Greg, thanks for joining us. Let me start by asking you.

This is where they pull some other dickhead into this to "verify" the lie.
Now read carefully, cuz they never ACTUALLY ACCUSE the guy.
This is how FOX NEWS covers it's ass when it makes up a lie.
That way, no one can come back and say "YOU LIED".
But you walk away from the story feeling pretty damn sure the guy did it.
So no one will look any farther than this.

GREG ESSLINGER, FORMER FBI COUNTERTERROR AGENT: No problem.

NAUERT: You know, the Army said that this guy exhibited very unusual behavior after the attacks. Of course, this was quite some time ago. So, why -- and he apparently was also testing some of these anthrax outside of what they considered the "safety zone" to be. So, why are we only hearing about this now? Why really only zeroing in on him and getting -- indict him at this point?

ESSLINGER: Well, you know, understand that these investigations can take a long time, even if there are some relative suspicions that the Bureau can follow up on, there's still a need to build enough evidence to the level where the prosecutors can actually file an indictment. So, a suspicion or suspicious activity or somebody doing something that looks unusual is only the first step in an investigation and to actually build a full case against someone, often takes more than a year or even years.

NAUERT: And it's hard for a lot of folks to imagine that this could potentially be an American who is responsible for this, let alone someone who pledged to protect his country in working for the United States Army. Any chance of this could all be a big mistake?

ESSLINGER: Well, I think, you know, with the person no longer alive to truly question and determine what the involvement was, (How convenient) it is going to be a question that may remain out there and whether or not this person did it by themselves, I think, is part of the biggest question in my mind or whether he was complicit, if he is guilty, with others. So, unless there's other evidence that can point in that direction, it may be really hard to solve this case.

NAUERT: And just quickly, what happens to the investigation now? He's gone. They're going to continue to talk to other people, I imagine, but are they going to want to pin this on him to just try to have this sewed up?

ESSLINGER: Well, I think they definitely want to close the investigation. I think it's been a very difficult investigation for the FBI. Obviously, a number of people were killed. So, this really -- it's a capital murder crime and the Bureau is very keen on getting some closure to it as anyone would be and all of America is.

So, they will continue to investigate so they can try to get some closure, but that closure, obviously, could be quite difficult now, given the fact that a prime suspect is no longer with us.

NAUERT: All right. Greg Esslinger, thank you so much for joining us.

ESSLINGER: You bet.

Case Closed, bitch!

Update 8/21/2008:

WTOP News report:
Attorney: Ivins never knew he was 'the suspect'
Yeah -- that because he didn't do it - and didn't think his government would use him as a patsy.

Here's a Salt Lake Tribune article.
FBI believes anthrax scientist killed with manipulated spores from Dugway lab
In it, it says "But there is no evidence in the documents showing anything untoward or illegal took place at the Utah facility." though the article still states he previously used anthrax to kill a bunch of local sheep. Damn that sounds like a movie.
